FREEPORT, Maine - L.L.Bean, a top merchant of quality outdoor gear and apparel since 1912, has joined forces with leading coworking provider, Industrious, to create the first-ever outdoor coworking space designed to let people experience the benefits of working outdoors. The initiative is based on the company’s 2018 Work and the Outdoors Survey which revealed, among other findings, that 86 percent of indoor workers would like to spend more time outside during the workday and large majorities believe there are tangible benefits to working outside including increased creativity and productivity, but that 75 percent of indoor workers rarely or never take time to work outside.
"Our survey revealed there’s a strong desire to spend more time outside during the workday, and our goal with this initiative is to show that there are many different ways to do so – we’re turning the workspace inside out," said workplace strategy expert Leigh Stringer, who worked with L.L.Bean on the study. The "Be an Outsider at Work" initiative launched in New York City’s Madison Square Park on Thursday, June 21st with the introduction of a modular outdoor coworking space, with individual workspaces, collaborative conference areas, cycling desks, wifi and outdoor team-building activities. Companies can reserve a free workspace at www.BeAnOutsiderAtWork.com or stop by the park. After New York City, the portable coworking space travels to Boston, MA on July 10-12, Philadelphia, PA on July 17-19, and Madison, WI on July 24-26.
A new website www.BeAnOutsiderAtWork.com introduces the modular set-up and offers a series of tips for working outside. Read the full release here.
