PANAMA CITY, Fla. - ABC 7 News reports that Panama City commissioners approved a resolution to accept 50 surplus FEMA travel trailers that have not been used to aid storm survivors. Thirty-one trailers have already been delivered, the rest will come over the next two weeks.
As stated in a press release, about 120 applications are on file for the trailers. "We made a recommendation to FEMA that with the unused trailers that we saw in the travel trailer program in the group sites that there would be an opportunity for them to donate them back, essentially, to the city so that we could help meet the needs of our citizens," said City Manager Mark McQueen.
People can live in the FEMA trailers on their personal property until they have permanent housing or April of 2020, whichever comes first.
