News Blip: A Woman's Touch In Print Media
Scout Somerville Reports On A Women's Outdoor Lifestyle Magazine Co-founded By Zoe Balaconis That Targets Women Adventurers
Have you ever tried to find any rugged, adventurous lifestyle magazines that featured mainly women? If you have, you may have already realized the task may not be so simple. Zoe Balaconis agreed- and she did something about it! As co-founder of Misadventures, a magazine specifically for women keen to adventure and outdoors, Zoe has filled a niche that has been left unexplored. It was definitely not easy to do, even with the help of her friends/editors who are apart of the Misadventures team.
Scout Somerville writer Matt Stirn asks Zoe in an interview: "What’s it been like starting a new print magazine in today’s digitally oriented world?" Zoe replies, "It has been challenging, but it’s also forced us to be more creative with our revenue...People don’t want an update—we get those all the time from social media. They want a beautiful, artful artifact that they can keep, collect, savor, put on a bedside table, clutch to their heart!"
