JACKSON CENTER, Ohio - New 2019 Airstream Classic models will include features to connect owners to their trailers through new Smart Technology, leading to new more comfortable camping experience. Airstream’s new technology allows owners to interact with their RVs through an integrated system that is the first of its kind developed and produced by an RV manufacturer.
A dedicated smartphone app lets owners remotely control and monitor lighting, HVAC, awning, vent fans, water, propane and battery levels, besides providing in-app access to Airstream Customer Service, roadside assistance, and the owner’s manual. A built-in GPS locator makes it easy to find and navigate the Airstream. Staying connected to family and friends and streaming entertainment are made more reliable through a secure Wi-Fi and 4G LTE modem network paired with a high-gain, roof-mounted antenna that boosts weak Wi-Fi and cellular signals. All 2019 Airstream Classics come with a year of unlimited 4G LTE data service.
“Airstream owners have long been bringing digital technology and the Internet of Things into their trailers, often in very creative ways,” McKay Featherstone, Airstream’s VP of Product Development and Engineering, said in a press release. “So, it’s no surprise they embrace the idea of a smart trailer, a recreational vehicle that allows them to adventure with all the digital comforts and connectivity of home.”
