Connacht Tribune Reports On The Increasing Number Of Girls Who Are Dropping Out Of Sports Because Of Their Appearance
A new trend has recently caught many people's attention, and it's the fact that an increasing number of girls are dropping out of sport activities because of the way it affects their appearance. Efforts are being made in Galway, Ireland to change this and get more girls involved once again in the outdoors.
As Connacht Tribune writer Declan Tierney relates in his article: "Mr. Curley said that there was a major drop out from sport of girls aged twelve and upwards because of appearance issues. He said that they feel that their involvement in competitive sports affects the way they look. He said that many of them do not want to end up being all sweaty and that is why they give up sport. That is a situation that the Galway Sports Partnership want to reverse."
