News Blip: Province Developing New Tourism Strategy
CBC News Reports On Island Trails Of Prince Edward Island Spearheading The Campaign That Promotes Activities Such As Kayaking, Cycling & Hiking
Changing their current strategy for getting people to visit Prince Edward Island in Canada, Tourism P.E.I created a campaign that will focus on soft adventure outdoor activities within the province. A non-profit group that manages the hiking and biking trails, called Island Trails, will help promote their lands so people know what PEI has to offer. This concept is planned for a 5 year period under Vision 2021, the campaign created by Tourism Industry Association of P.E.I.
Sarah MacMillan from CBC News relates in her article: "The Tourism Industry Association of P.E.I. noted that outdoor activities haven't been promoted as well as they could be." Island Trails board member Ken Miller has done some traveling across country of his own and says that it taught him what other destinations do well when it comes to promoting soft adventure tourism. He said he was particularly impressed with his experiences in Ireland and New Zealand.
