Stillwater Gazette Reports On Wildlife Photographer Who Went On A Journey To Meet And Find Other African Americans In The Outdoors
Dudley Edmondson is an African American wildlife photographer who noticed the lack of others of his race in the great outdoors. That's when he decided to go on a four year journey where he would meet and capture images of each person of color he found while exploring and compile them in his book titled “Black and Brown Faces in America’s Wild Places.”
As Stillwater Gazette writer Angie Hong relates in her article: “What I realized toward the end of this book project is that you really cannot discuss the subjects of nature and people of color without visiting a number of topics that at first glance may appear to have nothing to do with the environment,” Edmondson wrote in his preface.
