Smoky Mountain News Reports On North Carolina's Outdoor School, Opening The World's Largest Wilderness Medicine Classroom
North Carolina's outdoor school, Landmark Learning, has recently opened the world's largest wilderness medicine classroom. This program, located in Cullowhee, was founded by Justin and Mairi Padgett in 1996, and has been a success from the start. Moreover, the school has 7 different classes to choose from.
As Smoky Mountain News writer Holly Kays quotes in her article: “It’s a passion we have, and it’s not only a passion for being outdoors and being active, but it’s a passion for the type of people we keep running into,” said Mairi Padgett, who started Landmark Learning with her husband Justin Padgett in 1996. “We’ve been growing continuously since 1996 about 10 percent per year, very consistently”.
