John Wichers is a 79 year old outdoor enthusiast that spends all his time going on outdoor adventures to raise money for charities. He has participated in everything from cycling, to running, to even rappelling down a tall building. Moreover, the money he raises, goes to children's charities.
As CBC News writer Donna Lee relates in her article: Over the years, he's used his athletic ability to raise an estimated $45,000 for children's charities alone, including the Children's Rehabilitation Foundation of Manitoba. "I don't consider myself a hero. I just love people. I'm a people person, and my life is kids," he said in an interview.
