Outside Reports On The First Blind Person (Dan Berlin) To Run And Complete The 26 Mile Inca Trail In Peru
Dan Berlin became the first blind man in history to run and complete the 26 mile Inca Trail in Peru. He was joined by three teammates and this run took them 13 hours to complete. While others have the privilege of seeing the beauty of Machu Picchu, Dan Berlin has the privilege of feeling the beauty all around him.
As Outside writer Jon Gugala relates in his article: "The 45-year-old runner became the first blind athlete to run the Grand Canyon’s Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim last year. “[My teammate] told me, ‘Don’t worry, it’s not as bad as the Grand Canyon,’” Berlin told Outside on Tuesday. “And we get out there, and there are probably 10,000 steps on the trail. It’s crazy."
