West Ohio Adventures, a partnership of six counties in western Ohio, has put together a tour of factories in the region. The Airstream factory in Jackson Center, Ohio, tops the itinerary. Other stops along the self-driving tour route include breweries, distilleries, wineries, chocolatiers, jewelers, the factories where Braun ambulances and KitchenAid mixers are built, and more.
FoxNews.com ranked the Airstream experience among the Top 10 factory tours in the nation. You can witness how workers actually craft every piece of the Airstream camper trailers, and the hand-by-hand building process that was at the core of this country's manufacturing work long ago. The free tours are offered Monday thru Friday at 2 p.m. The Friday tour takes place after normal production hours so you may not see employees at work. The tour last 1.5 to 2 hours and requires a walk of about a mile. Airstream asks that visitors arrive 10-15 minutes before the tour begins and that they wear closed-toe shoes.
