Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Reports On Laura Moss' New Book About Cats And Their Owners Outdoors
Adventure Cats is Laura J. Moss' new book that shares the stories of outdoor fans and their cats. The secret is that these cats have been trained to walk on a leash. This allows the owners to be able to take them camping, hiking, mountain trekking, kayaking, etc. Why shouldn't cats get to adventure the outdoors like dogs have traditionally done? However, leash training a cat isn't a simple task.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writer Linda Wilson Fuoco relates in her article: "It can take weeks or months to leash-train a cat, and not every owner has that kind of patience. But the owners of 19 cats featured in the book are glad they did." To elaborate on the subject, author Laura Moss reports on what she has learned: "Cats have soft flexible throats, so attaching a leash to the collar can easily cause choking. Also, most cats are furry little Houdinis who can easily slip out of a collar.” So she recommends vests and harnesses.
