The RV Industry Association, which will open its RV Technical Institute on Sept. 23 during the Elkhart RV Open House, announced the first two regional partners for its Level 1 training. Camping World Technical Institute (CWTI) and the Windham School District in Texas will participate in the Institute’s pilot Train the Trainer Program before initiating the Level 1 training at their facilities. CWTI, which has trained more than 500 technicians in its apprentice program, plans to completely revamp its program, and offer trainees the RVDA/RVIA Registered Technician exam in order to transfer them to RVIA Level 1 certification. The Windham School District in Texas, a correctional facility, will offer the Level 1 training as a workforce development program to eligible non-violent offenders.
The goal of the RV Technical institute is to professionalize and standardize RV technician training across the country. Interested organizations who meet the official list of criteria can become a licensed partner and participate in a Train the Trainer course. Criteria and curriculum for Level 2 certification is currently under development.
