METAIRE, La. - Oracle Lighting announced that Justin Hartenstein, who founded the company in his garage in 1999, is a finalist for the SEMA Gen-III Innovator of the Year award. Hartenstein has emerged as an advocate for the automotive lighting aftermarket, taking on challenges to the industry such as overseas counterfeiting. He worked with foreign courts, attorneys, private investigators, and other authorities in China for months to file legal action against a Chinese underground counterfeit factory ring that has repeatedly violated the intellectual property of Oracle Lighting and a half dozen other SEMA manufacturers. SEMA’s Gen-III Innovator of the Year is one of just two individual awards presented by the SEMA organization each year and recognizes a young innovator who exhibits the same pioneering spirit as the original industry founders. It recognizes individuals who are changing the way the automotive aftermarket does business by acting on a new trend, inventing an original product or devising better ideas for the automotive marketplace. The winner will be announced during the SEMA Industry Awards Banquet at the 2019 SEMA Show, scheduled for Nov. 5-8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, is a trade association with members that include manufacturers, distributors, retailers, publishing companies, auto restorers, street-rod builders, restylers, car clubs, race teams and other automotive enthusiasts.
