CAMBRIDGE, Ontario â The Record, an Ontario, Canada news source, reports that thousands of items that once belonged to Erwin Hymer Group North America will go up for auction next month. Toronto-based auctioneer and industrial liquidation firm Infinity Asset Solutions Inc. will conduct the multi-day auction at 25 Reuter Dr. in Cambridge â the former headquarters of the bankrupt RV manufacturer. Infinity president Bruce Lyle describes the auction as massive, telling the Record, "I don't think you'll see something like this again in a long time. Once in a decade, maybe."
More than $10 million worth of RV parts and inventory will be auctioned off including tires and rims, axles, TVs, fridges, awnings and stoves, as well as 24 new Hymer tow-behind trailers, 15 work-in-progress trailers and 100 fiberglass trailer shells, plus office furniture and equipment, a complete cafeteria setup and various manufacturing equipment and tools. Infinity says it expects a large crowd, upward of 300 to 400 people, at the sale, with many more participating in the online auction through Bidspotter.com. Items can be inspected on Monday, July 15, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. although details are subject to change.
The trailers included in the auction, which as previously reported have not yet been certified by the Canadian Standards Association, will be sold “as is.” The court gave approval for the auction on June 17, after a judge formally approved the sale of Erwin Hymer NA’s Roadtrek assets, including 95 Roadtrek vehicles, to French company Rapido for an undisclosed amount. Rapido will assume the Erwin Hymer lease at 20 Tyler St. in Cambridge for its new Roadtrek headquarters. The sale is expected to close July 5.
