Stuff Reports On How Region Of New Zealand Is Noticing A Spike In Tourism Due To The Growth Of Mountain Biking, Hiking And Outdoor Events
Manawatu and Whanganui region of New Zealand builds interest in tourism with popular activities like mountain biking, sporting events and hiking trails. Visitors to the area brought around $945 million into the economy of Manawatu and Whanganui during the last year, according to the Ministry of Innovation, Business and Employment. New Zelanad has magnificent terrain and outdoors for people to explore, it's just a matter of knowing its there to enjoy.
Stuff.co.nz writer Paul Mitchell stated in his article: "Large-scale events and linking with a national network of mountainbike trails are key points of a plan to keep growing the tourism industry Manawatu and Whanganui." Adventure tourism has been identified as an area of interest by the Accelerate 25 development plan. Accelerate 25's plan recommended expanding adventure and nature activities, such as biking, canoeing and rafting, in the parks and across the region.
