Parks Canada announced that Whistlers Campground, the largest and most popular camping facility in Jasper National Park, will be closed for the entire 2019 season for a thorough upgrade to meet the needs of today’s campers. The construction project includes a new registration center, new washroom and shower facilities, improved campsites with many upgraded to 50 amp service, wider roads, and new water, sewer and electrical systems throughout the park. Construction begins in October, 2018, with completion by the spring of 2020.
With 781 campsites, Whistlers is North America’s largest single-entry campground and the largest campground in the Parks Canada system. Jasper National Park has ten other campgrounds that remain available for the 2019 camping season. The construction project makes camping reservations imperative before a visit to Jasper park in 2019.
