Announcement: The Atlanta Motor Speedway will be opening its campgrounds for Hurricane Florence evacuees free of charge to dry camp in their RVs and tents at Legends Campground. For a nominal fee of $20 per night, the Premier campground will offer a limited amount of spaces with water, power and sewer. Last year during Hurricane season, the Speedway opened its gates and sheltered more than 100 campers for Hurricane Irma.
The Premier Campground is located adjacent to the Legends Campground and campers should enter the facility at the main entrance off GA Highway 19/41. It's on the left at the Atlanta Motor Speedway security command post. Located adjacent to the campgrounds, AMS will also open to visitors in need The Rinnai Station bathhouse, allowing them free access to hot showers and restroom accommodations during their stay. Hurricane Florence is currently a major Category 4 storm projected to hit the Carolinas Thursday night. More than 1 million people have faced mandatory evacuation orders Tuesday in coastal areas of Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, as Florence churns toward the eastern seaboard.
