GLOUCESTER COUNTY, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey man who was inebriated, accidentally took an Uber from West Virginia to his home in New Jersey, which cost him a total of $1,635. Last week, Kenny Bachman thought he was taking an Uber to where he was staying, near the West Virginia University campus, but since he fell asleep, he had no say in the 300+ mile journey to his home in New Jersey. He told the press the experience was “crazy.” NJ.com reported that Kenny Bachman thought he was taking an Uber somewhere closer, but when his Uber driver woke him up two hours into long journey, Bachman says he didn’t know what was happening or who the driver was.
The trip was made more expensive because Bachman gave the driver money for tolls and ordered an Uber XL, which can hold up to six passengers and about double the price. He says he unsuccessfully challenged the fare with Uber, which confirmed that the ride occurred. Surprisingly, Bachman says he gave the driver five stars. One positive thing about this story, Bachman made sure not to drive drunk and took actions for safe driving. This can be a lesson to all: Don't drink and drive. Instead, get an RV and sleep it off!
