News Blip: Tank Riding Attraction Opens In Melbourne
Florida Today Reports On Tank America Giving Paying Customers A Chance To Operate Abbot FV432 Personnel Carrier For Recreation In The Woods
Ever want to be in the driver seat of a military grade tank? This service has been available before today, but now Tank America is opening recreational rides in the woods to crush junk vehicles for fun in Melbourne. An Abbot FV433 self-propelled artillery and an Abbot FV432 armored personnel carrier have received City Hall clearance to rumble through the woods and be used as an outdoor attraction.
Florida Today writer Rick Neale speaks with veteran and councilman Paul Alfrey and relays his opinion on the business: "Being a (military veteran) and understanding tanks, I'm very comfortable with what they've done. And I think they've done a great job at putting this together," said Councilman Paul Alfrey. Council members imposed a list of mandatory Tank America operating conditions in order to keep the homeowners on the Hammock Tree Preserve opposed to the project happy with the company's activities.
