News Blip: Teen Pilot Builds Airplane
MN Public Radio News Reports On Danielle Olson's Childhood Of Being Constantly Around Airplanes, Until She Finally Decided To Build And Fly One
When do pilots first learn about airplanes? Ideally it's as an adolescent. The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram reports on a little girl who actually helped her father build two aircrafts. Danielle Olson is a young pilot who also learned as a child and with the help of her father all about airplanes. She traveled to 49 states and 5 countries in her RV10. Later she continued to build an RV14 with her dad, in which she would eventually fly for the first time.
MN Public Radio News writer Bob Collins relays in his article: “I’ve flown in other planes, and it’s just another plane. But this one, I built,” Danielle tells the Leader-Telegram. “I riveted those rivets. It’s cool that I made a plane, and I’m flying it by myself. Danielle waited till her 16th birthday to take the venture, which is the minimum age a person can operate an aircraft alone. You can see the video of Danielle flying for her first time at the link below!
