STURGIS, S.D. - Situated in the Black Hills of South Dakota, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2018 included 10 days of riding, food, fun and music from August 3-12. The campground's owner says sales are up from last year and is looking forward to welcoming all her guests. Many people have been pitching tents out on lawns or lodging in hotels during the rally. But bikers with a big rig had to take alternative accommodations. The Big Rig RV Park in Sturgis hit full capacity. The campground prepared for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally by installing a new water tank, building a new office, and putting up more signage. The campground's owner says sales are up from last year and is looking forward to welcoming all her guests.
Katrina Lim from the Black Hills Fox relays in her article: Jill Netterberg, owner, Big Rig RV Park, says, "Seeing this place filled up. It's a great location. The view is awesome. And the people we see come in are just wonderful. We have so many different nationalities and they are just so nice. They're so friendly." Bruce Van Meter and his two buddies are from southern New Jersey. They drove their big rig a day and half from the garden state to cross another item off their bucket list: the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. He says they're happier staying in an RV rather than a hotel. Bruce Van Meter, guest, Big Rig RV Park, says, "The traveling is easier. Your home is with you. All of our amenities are there so we didn't have to stop that often. If we wanted a sandwich we could actually get up and walk in this thing and make a sandwich, or get something to drink, or make coffee.
