NORTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa - A proposed ordinance on RV parking restrictions in North Whitehall Township, PA will be considered for adoption at the next board meeting after public review. The ordinance was introduced by township manager Jeff Bartlett after several residents expressed concerns about large vehicles parked near their properties. Supervisors in North Whitehall Township moved to advertise an ordinance Monday night that would impose the new restrictions on the parking of recreational vehicles, tractor-trailers and personal trailers in the township.
The press release on WFMZ news outlines a few brand new areas that would apply if the zoning ordinance is approved. For example, "Residents would be able to store RVs that are at least 25 feet long beside or behind a home. Currently, RVs are able to be parked behind a home but cannot be parked within the side setback of a home." Also, any RV parked on a township street can only be parked in front of property owned by the individual who owns the RV. RVs can be parked on streets for no more than three days in a seven-day period. Commercial vehicles over 12,000 pounds would be prohibited from parking on township roads, except for short-term parking for delivery purposes. Bartlett said this provision helps combat trucks from being parked on township streets for extended periods.
