Motor1 and other automotive news sources report that the Erwin Hymer Group’s latest concept, the Galileo, looks forward to a future where an RV would need no steering wheel or dashboard. Instead, a flat chassis would hold an electric powertrain and autonomous driving mechanism, while modular living space sits on top. Resembling a tiny apartment on wheels, the vehicle could be customized to meet the needs of individual customers, even individual trips.
The Galileo concept, released by the Erwin Hymer Research Group, could hit the highway by as early as 2030. Hymer execs visualize the Galileo revolutionizing the RV rental business as well, with a customized RV rented for a particular trip, then turned in to be refitted for the next renter.
