OutdoorLife Reports On Utah's Government That Wishes To Transfer Parts Of Its Federal Lands To State Managed Lands, Which Is Making Big Outdoor Retailers Protest
Many outdoor retailers are angry and upset with Utah's government for wanting to transfer federal public lands to state managed lands. This change would mean less access for outdoor enthusiasts. Utah is one of the states with the most federal lands and has been hosting the Outdoor Retailer show for the past 20 years.
As OutdoorLife writer Andrew McKean relates in his article: That action by state officials led a number of outdoors companies to propose boycotting the Outdoor Retailer show, which brings $45 million in direct spending to Utah annually. Patagonia, the outdoor clothing and gear company, has been one of the most vocal boycott-promoters, saying that the show should move from Utah because of “a hostile environment that puts our industry at risk.”
