LCI Says Towables Are Ditching The Crank

ELKHART, Ind. â Lippert Components, Inc. (LCI) says several major towable lines in the Thor Industries family will eliminate manual crank jacks in favor of electric leveling as a standard feature on 2020 models. Towables from Keystone RV, Dutchmen RV, Crossroads RV, and Heartland RV will come equipped with LCI’s PSX1® Power Stabilizers, which use a motor to operate the two stabilizer legs independently, so that, when one leg finds the terrain surface, the other leg automatically adjusts to match its height. The announcement represents a major change in the industry marking the first time any major towable RV brand has eliminated manual crank jack technology from its model lineup.
“Including power stabilizers as a standard feature is a true game-changer. RVers have been using manual scissor jacks since the birth of our industry. There have been so many innovations in the RV industry since then, but yet here we are, still using manual crank jacks,” Jason Lippert, LCI’s president and CEO, said in a news release. “We believe the RV owner deserves better, and more importantly, future RVers will demand better.”
