Flood Concerns Force Evacuations At California Campgrounds

The local NBC affiliate reports that continuing rainfall in the San Francisco region has filled some reservoirs in the South Bay area to capacity. The Santa Clara Valley Water District is releasing water from several of its dams to reduce the possibility of flooding. The Los Angeles Times reported that since Jan. 1, some 580 billion gallons of water were added across the state.
The Morgan Hill Thousand Trails Campground, located downstream of the Uvas Reservoir, was evacuated after officials warned park staff that the reservoir would soon start to spill, causing the access road and bridge to the park to become inaccessible. Guests at the campground were given the opportunity to relocate to another Thousand Trails in San Benito County.
