Extensive List of New Recalls From NHTSA - PART II

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports a wide range of recalls currently underway affecting recreational vehicles by several manufacturers, including Jayco, Keystone, Newmar, Forest River, Daimler, Tiffin, Entegra, Starcraft, Setra, Motor Coach Industries and Columbia Northwest. Details and contact numbers are below. Daimler Vans USA (DVUSA) is recalling 153 2017 Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Sprinter2500 and 3500 vehicles. Spot welds on the front side wall connecting the door to the hinge may be missing, possibly affecting vehicle strength in a crash. DVUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and add any missing spot welds, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 29, 2018. DVUSA is also recalling 7,433 2015-2017 Mercedes-BenzMetris vehicles in which the transmission support may not have been properly tightened, potentially resulting in damage to the driveshaft and loss of power to the wheels. DVUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the transmission support mounting bolts, replacing and tightening them as necessary, free of charge. Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling 1,219 2018-2019 Freightliner Cascadia vehicles. The driver's air bag module fasteners within the steering wheel may not have been installed to specification, possibly affecting front air bag deployment during a crash. DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the fasteners, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 6, 2018. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-771. Forest River has several ongoing recalls. 2018 Forest River Surveyor recreational trailers may have a refrigerator in the slide room that lacks an air cycling fan to cool the refrigerator, causing it to overheat. Forest River has notified owners, and dealers will install a cooling fan assembly, free of charge. Forest River's number for this recall is 37-0719 with a customer service line at 1-574-642-3119. Forest River also is recalling 32 2019 Coachmen Viking recreational trailers which have incorrect Federal Placards stating that the tires have an inflation pressure of 65 PSI, instead of 75 PSI which the tires actually require. Forest River has notified owners and provided a corrected Federal Placard, free of charge. Forest River's number for this recall is 121-0734; customer service at 1-269-467-8281. Also under recall are 265 2017-2019 Forest River Vengeance Rouge recreational trailers which are missing side marker lights, reducing visibility. Forest River has notified owners, and dealers will install the missing amber side marker lights, free of charge. Forest River's number for this recall is 73-0727; customer service at 1-260-499-2100. Forest River is also recalling 237 2019 Coachmen Chaparral,Chaparral Lite and Brookstone, and Shasta Phoenix recreational trailers on which the liquid propane gas bottle ring may possibly detach. Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install new LP bottle rings, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in July 2018. Newmar is recalling 96 2016-2018 Newmar Mountain Aire motorhomes, which may have a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank bracket that contacts the tag axle tire, possibly causing tire damage. Newmar will notify owners, and Spartan Motors dealers will move the DEF bracket away from the tire, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 10, 2018. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300.
Motor Coach Industries (MCI) is recalling 1,105 2011-2016 D4500, D4505, D4000, D4005,and D4000 ISTV motor coaches equipped with ISX engines. Due to vibrations, the exhaust bellow pipes may develop a hole. MCI will notify owners, and dealers will replace the bellows pipe assembly with an improved part, free of charge. Owners may contact MCI customer service at 1-800-241-2947.
Tiffin Motorhomes is recalling 5,871 2013-2018 Allegro Open Road motorhomes in which an inadequate frame rail may allow the tow hitch to detach. Tiffin will notify owners, and dealers will install an insert plate to strengthen the frame rail, free of charge. Tiffin's number for this recall is TIF-109. Some vehicles already remedied as part of an earlier recall (17V200) will need additional repairs. Tiffin is also recalling 1,223 2018-2019 Tiffin Allegro RED, Allegro Open Road, Breeze, Bus, Phaeton, and Zephyr motorhomes which may have an improperly assembled entry door allowing it to open while the vehicle is in motion. Tiffin's number for this recall is TIF-110. Owners affected by these recalls should contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661.
Setra of North America is recalling 8 2017-2018 Setra S417 TC and S407 CC motorcoaches. The steering drop arm nut in the coaches may loosen, possibly causing a loss of steering control. Setra will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering drop arm and nut, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 16, 2018. Setra's number for this recall is 46.40U10716A. Columbia Northwest is recalling 50 2016-2017 Somerset Chesapeake and Somerset Newport recreational trailers. A weld on the front A-frame bars may fail, possibly allowing the front of the trailer to drop and contact the road while being towed.
