ELIZABETHTOWN, NC â The Bladen Journal reports that Jones Lake State Park in Bladen County has upgraded its campground in hopes of attracting RVers traveling down nearby I-95. The state park now offers 50 amp power at six of its 22 campsites. The bath house and 50-year-old restroom facilities were also replaced. Other upgrades included two handicapped accessible sites with paved pads close to the restrooms, designated fire pit areas, and more. Previously, Jones Lake had only one electric site, referred to by Park Superintendent Shane Freeman as “the famous Site 3. It tended to be reserved almost all the time.” Site 3 is still available, offering 30 amp power. The state park is a popular spot for paddling sports and swimming in a large Carolina Bay lake. State park officials are considering placing signs along I-95 to alert travelers to campsites at this and other state parks.
