DELAWARE, Ohio â My Fox 28 in Columbus and other news outlets report that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has been forced to close several campgrounds in state parks due to flooding from recent heavy rains. All areas of Delaware State Park, including the campground, are closed, as is the campground at Lake Loramine and parts of the campground at Mohican State Park. The beach and boat docks at Alum Creek State Park are closed, but most of the campground remains above water so far. The Army Corps of Engineers’ Mill Creek Campground and boat dock at Berlin Lake are closed as well.
Ohio State Parks and Watercraft communications manager Heidi Hetzel-Evans recommends that those headed for a state park check on its condition first on the Ohio DNR website. Those who already have reservations at a closed campground have several options, she told Fox News. “You can transfer your reservation to another park this weekend; you can reschedule your reservation for another time, within the next six months or you can get a full refund.” Cancellation or transfer fees will not be charged during these closures.
