The San Diego Union-Tribune Reports On Mary Duffy, An Education And Outreach Biologist Constantly Staying Active Outdoors
Think it's hard to get outdoors, work as a hiking guide and stay on an exercise regimen? 63 year-old Mary Duffy has it down to a tee. Her age does not stop her from enjoying her love for being outdoors. She needs the outdoors to get away from society for a while; that is why she carries hiking shies, water and a sun hat in her car at all times.
San Diego Union-Tribune writer Doug Williams relates in his article: "Fortunately for Duffy, much of her work involves being outside and on trails. The former San Diego State zoology/biology major works for the Earth Discovery Institute, a small nonprofit based in El Cajon, as its education and outreach biologist. She also leads interpretive hikes for the San Diego Natural History Museum’s Canyoneers. Outdoors is somewhere Mary needs to be eventually. She and a friend will hike 111-miles on the John Muir Trail in the Sierra this summer, along with their donkeys. In preparation, she plans to put together a tougher fitness/diet regimen.
