MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Lakewood Camping Resort, Myrtle Beach's iconic family vacation destination, celebrates its 60th Anniversary. Visionaries Carl and Mary Perry founded Lakewood Camping Resort in 1959. The first of its kind, Lakewood has grown over the past six decades to be one of the largest camping resorts in the world, with the original 125-site venture transforming to include more than 1,900 sites for camping, as well as vacation villas with full amenities.
Known for its beautiful location and tranquil atmosphere, the breathtaking resort is nestled along a half-mile stretch of sandy beach with luxurious amenities spread across 200 acres of prime oceanfront property. Today, the innovative spirit born at the company’s inception and passed down through the generations is alive and well. The family strives to remain the standard by which all other camping resorts are measured. "Our family has put a lot of energy into our family business so that we can continue to serve your family for generations to come," President of Lakewood Camping Resort Don Perry shares in a press release. "Being around for 60 years has allowed us to become extremely knowledgeable about the industry and guests, and a lot more industry changing innovations have already been developed."
