A new president for the KOA (Kampgrounds of America) franchise has been appointed and a new board chairman/CEO was named last week by the KOA board of directors. Toby O’Rourke will serve as the KOA's new president; she joined the company in 2011 and most recently worked as chief franchise operations officer. She's the first woman to be president of KOA. The board named Pat Hittmeier as KOA chairman and CEO. O'Rourke's seven-year tenure at KOA has coincided with a period of record growth for the company. Kampgrounds of America is the world’s largest system of family campgrounds and was founded in Billings in 1962, where it is still headquartered.
Billings Gazette staff reports on a statement made by Pat Hittmeier: "Toby has been an integral part of KOA’s record success the past seven years," Hittmeier said Monday, March 12. "Her eye for detail and her drive for excellence in absolutely every area of our business makes her promotion to president a very obvious choice." Before coming to KOA and working in the campgrounds business, O’Rourke worked for DanoneWave Foods in Broomfield, Colorado, and the Hillshire Farms brand for Tyson Foods in Downers Grove, Illinois. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
