News Release:
Timberline Campground in Iowa Joins Jellystone Network
Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts Reports On The Reopening Of Timberline Campground In Waukee, But This Under A New Name & As Iowa's 2nd Jellystone Campground Franchise.
When it reopens for the 2018 camping season on April 1, Timberline Campground in Waukee, Iowa will become Iowa’s second Jellystone Park Camp-Resort. Owner Curtis Van Gilder says he and his partner Marta Sirck-Docan decided to join Jellystone due to the many families with young children swelling the local population, as well as Apple’s recent decision to build a $1.3 billion data center in Waukee, a city a located just west of Des Moines. Iowa’s other Jellystone campground is located in Monticello.
The 40 plus-year-old, 115-site campground will become the West Des Moines Jellystone Park, with a full schedule of the family activities and themed weekends Jellystone parks are known for, including daily visits from Yogi Bear himself. Located about a mile and a half from I-80, the campground features hundreds of mature catalpa trees. In addition to tent and RV sites, the park rents three rustic cabins and one park model RV. Campground amenities include a swimming pool, recreation hall, dog park, basketball and volleyball courts, and a camp store. Van Gilder and Sirck-Docan hope to expand later this year, adding 70 to 80 pull- through campsites and a new pond, and are working with city officials to bring sewer service to the campground.
