In 2020 the National Park Service will have five days where entrance fees will be waived for all national parks. The dates that the entrance fees will be waived are Monday, Jan. 20 â Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Saturday, April 18 â first day of National Parks Week, Tuesday, Aug. 25 â National Park Service birthday, Saturday, Sept. 26 â National Public Lands Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11 â Veterans Day. Anne Delaney of the Greeley Tribune, relays in her article "With at least one site in every state, the National Park Service’s 419 parks, recreation areas, cultural sites, rivers and trails are accessible destinations that supply benefits for overall physical and mental wellbeing. Time spent in nature reduces stress and blood pressure and often leads to lifestyle choices that include more exercise and better nutrition." Only 110 out of 419 national parks have entrance fees, which range from $5 to $35. The waiver does not cover activities such as camping or transportation.
