Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) Executive Director Jessica Wahl will testify before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee for needed change. This hearing represents an extraordinary bipartisan opportunity to explore how we can improve recreation infrastructure essential to outdoor pursuits.
According to the ORR press release, While visitation to our public lands and waters has increased, insufficient appropriations have contributed to a growing deferred maintenance backlog, negatively impacting not only the recreation industry, but also millions of visitors, and the jobs and local communities that rely on them. Director Wahl's testimony begins by stating some facts and figures represented by the ORR, and essentially, that a growing maintenance backlog means much of the infrastructure is inadequate and unsafe. She says, "This hurts not only the outdoor recreation industry, but also the millions of visitors and communities that rely on this industry to survive."
