NJCOA Works To Renew CPR/First Aid Certification For Campground Owners

The New Jersey Campground Owners Association (NJCOA) has been focusing on campground safety with the summer months creeping up. The recent changes with the Public Bathing Regulations (PBR) meant many changes for New Jersey campgrounds along with requirements of AED devices and CPR certification renewals.
Joann DelVescio, Executive Director of NJCOA, worked closely with New Jersey Department of Health to make sure the campground owners were informed and educated on the changes in the Public Bathing Regulations. Many owners participated in the free webinars held by the NJ Department of Health. Judy LaPorta, Little Oaks Campground, Cape May Court House, participated in the webinar and commented “I liked the webinar. It was educational plus I could take my time and make sure I understood the information being presented.” LaPorta feels confident about her knowledge of the code changes. DelVescio stated, “NJ Department of Health was very eager to work with us and make sure our members were knowledgeable about the changes.”
With it being the beginning of the season, many campground owners and staff were due for CPR/First Aid and AED training/certification. Working with the American Heart Association, DelVescio organized CPR certification classes at campgrounds in the Skylands Region, Shore Region, and Southern Shore Region. Owners took advantage of the opportunity to renew their certification and have staff certified in CPR/First Aid and the use of AED devices. Anita Pferffkorn, Indian Rock RV Park in Jackson, was excited to host the class at her campground. She stated, “It was an excellent opportunity for me to have additional staff trained and certified.” Safety is top priority for NJCOA campground owners.
