The Outdoor Wire Reports On The Improved Fourth Quarter Performance & All-time High Revenues of Leading Innovator of Outdoor Recreation Equipment and Technology.
RACINE, Wis. - Johnson Outdoors Inc., a leading innovator of outdoor recreation equipment and technology, recently announced all-time high revenue and earnings for the fiscal year of 2017. Johnson Outdoors owns a family of brands incudieng Humminbird, Minn Kota, SCUBAPRO, Ocean Kayak, and more. They have a camping and hiking division that produces tents, cooking systems for the outdoors, camp furniture, etc. Strong on-going marketplace momentum of new products in the Company's core fishing, diving and camp cook brands drove a 13% increase in sales as operating profit grew 99% and net income rose 160% year-over-year. Significantly higher sales in Fishing and profitable growth in Diving led to improved fourth quarter performance.
According to The Outdoor Wire, highlights for the company include new products releases, profitable growth , digital strategy implementation on-track, strong debt-free balance sheet, and an increase of quarterly dividend to shareholders of 11.1%. Total net sales surged 13% to $490.6 million versus $433.7 million in the previous fiscal year. New products across the Minn Kota®, Humminbird®, SCUBAPRO® and Jetboil® brands more than offset lower revenue in Watercraft Recreation and Camping. Operating profit climbed 99% to $45.6 million versus $22.9 million in the prior fiscal year due to significantly higher sales volume and gross margin percentage improvement in every business unit. Consumers benefit as well as Johnson continues to make products that are meaningfully better than the competition—with unique design, function and quality that improve the outdoor experience.
