News Blip: Tidying Up Before The Rush
Times Free Press Reports On The Collaboration Of Tennessee Volunteers Making The Ocoee River Look Its Best Before Start Of Rafting Season
With The Ocoee River being the most visited river for whitewater rafting in the U.S., the community of Ocoee has its hands full with tourists and outdoor adventure seekers looking to enjoy the landscape during the season. Luckily, 135 volunteers showed up to have a river clean up before the rafting season began. Furthermore, the people in the area use the water and land of Ocoee and want to give back by making it look as nice as possible for themselves and tourists.
Times Free Press writer Mark Pace relates in his article: "For them [volunteers] and others in the the area, the rapids are much more than a beautiful, adrenaline-rushing outdoor adventure. They mean money." By cleaning up, tourists are likely to enjoy their visit and return. The Ocoee pumps $43.8 million into the region annually, according to a 2013 study by the University of Tennessee.
