News Blip: Lake Tahoe Women Start Outdoor Recreation Group
Tahoe Daily Tribune Reports On Founders Of Summit Hunnies, An Adventure Group For Women Who Meet Regularly For Bike Rides & Other Activities
Local women of Lake Tahoe, on the border of California and Nevada, Austyn Harrington and Justeen Ferguson returned home after college and realized that their usual group of friends they had spent a lot of time adventuring with had dwindled down. In response, they began an outdoor adventure group for women called Summit Hunnies. The goal of the group was to connect not only with friends but new local women who love outdoor recreation and adventure and wanted an outlet to do just that.
Tahoe Daily Tribune writer J.P. Kelsey relates in his article: "According to Harrington, weekly bike rides are a mainstay for the group and this summer they've been focusing on a few different activities. "Lately, we've mostly been doing the bike rides and since I'm a water ski instructor, we have the option of doing that, Friday through Monday. We also try to do moonlight hikes at Tallac and Freel Peak."
