New Jobs In Elkhart-Goshen Region Top Employment Gains Nationwide

ELKHART, Ind. -- Bloomberg reports that its analysis of U.S. Dept. of Labor data indicates that the Elkhart-Goshen region in Indiana, home to many RV manufacturers, experienced the greatest improvement in employment levels in the nine years since the Great Recession ended, compared to other metros across the country. Unemployment in the region fell by nearly 14,000 people with the addition of more than 41,300 jobs. Two other Indiana cities also ranked high in the study, with Kokomo coming in third and Columbus, IN ranking 13
Inside Indiana Business, which picked up the Bloomberg story, says that the figures are based on the net change in employed and unemployed in each metropolitan area. Those figures were then divided by labor force levels to rank the greatest level of improvement. Other metros showing great growth include several regions of Texas and cities across the South.
