JEFFERSON CITY, Miss. - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is opening the campgrounds in the state park system to Missouri residents whose homes have been devastated by recent flooding. People can stay up to 30 days for free in any state park campground, with campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Campers need to provide their own camping equipment and other supplies, as well as documentation from a governmental or charitable organization certifying they have been displaced by flooding in any Missouri county.
The Missouri Division of State Parks, ranked as one of the top four state park systems in the U.S., oversees 91 state parks and historic sites with some 3,500 campsites available to the public. For additional information camping for displaced residents, call 800-334-6946 (voice) or 800-379-2419 (TDD).
A list of parks with camping, including accessible sites, can be found on the Missouri State Park website.
