The Citrus County Chronicle, a news outlet based in Crystal River, FL, reports that John Eden, an Inverness attorney who hopes to build a 439-lot RV campground on the shores of Lake Spivey, has received approval from Citrus County, Florida officials as well as good signals from the Inverness City Council. Eden hopes the council will annex the property to place it within the city limits. The gated community would be about 2.5 miles from the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum, a major attraction in the town.
Eden described the project, to be named Preservation Point RV Resort, as an upscale, mostly winter destination, with amenities to include a multipurpose clubhouse with a general store, indoor bowling alley, theater and meeting rooms, a swimming pool, golf, shuffleboard and tennis. A wooded buffer and nature trails would surround most of the developed areas. Eden told the council he hopes to start construction on the project’s first phase by summer and have it completed by the end of the year, with additional phases completed over the next three years.
