Four NASCAR Tracks Welcome Hurricane Evacuees
Editor's Note: This news item was retrieved and first published through The Drive's website.
The Drive reports that four NASCAR tracks across the South have opened their campgrounds to evacuees unable to return to their homes after Hurricane Florence’s devastating rains. In addition to the previously reported Atlanta Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway, campgrounds at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama and Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee are now open.
Talladega, which is offering its facilities for free, has campgrounds outside Turn 1 which include restrooms, hot shower facilities, and water hookups. "We hope to provide a sense of relief by offering a place to stay for no charge for evacuees during this time of adversity. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the path of the storm," said Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch in a statement last week. Campers at Bristol have access to water, electricity, and Wi-Fi. Further information should e found by contacting the individual speedways.
