Expansion Of Grand Canyon Campground A Major Win For RV Industry

The RV Industry Association (RVIA) says that the planned expansion of the popular Ten-X Campground about 5 miles south of the Grand Canyon National Park is a major win for the RV industry. The project, announced by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, will expand the 1970’s-era campground in the Kaibab National Forest from 70 campsites to over 300, improve the roads and amenities at the campground, and increase its ability to accommodate today’s large RVs. The move comes following the RVIA advocacy meetings with officials at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Department of Forest Service (USFS). Construction should begin in Spring 2020.
“Twenty-five million Americans go RVing each year and Eisenhower-era campground infrastructure and limited camping availability have reduced RV opportunities on federal lands,” Chris Bornemann, RVIA’s director of government affairs, said in a press release. “We applaud the USFS for taking the necessary steps to provide additional RV-friendly camping experiences at our iconic federal lands.” The Grand Canyon is one of the national parks most visited by RVers.
