Erwin Hymer, in its first year of association with Thor, introduced the VisionVenture, a stunning new camper concept, at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon. The company says it creates “a new and independent motorhome category.” Built on a modified Mercedes chassis, the Vision features a two-level floorplan with the bedroom located in a pneumatic popup reached by a flight of stairs which incorporates storage and motion-activated lighting. The downstairs living area boasts twin sofas and a fold-away dining table, while a drop-down rear deck is equipped with a slide-out electric grill. The convertible bathroom, with pull-out rain shower, is lined with BASF Veneo Slate, a pliable surface material with razor-thin natural-stone facing, one of 20 innovative BASF materials used in the concept's construction.
The exterior is finished with BASF's award-winning Climacool automotive paint, claimed to lower exterior surface temperature by up to 20 degrees C. and interior temperatures by up to 4 degrees C. A 3D printing process was used to manufacture select body parts, giving them a rubbery, extremely strong texture. Other features include a yacht-style kitchen, four-wheel drive, incorporated solar panels, and a roof-top balcony. Both Curbed and New Atlas gave the VisionVenture rave reviews, comparing its various features to those found in a high-end apartment, a tiny house and a yacht.
Although Hymer has no immediate plans to put the VisionVenture into production, its news release cites the year of 2025 as the likely date when this new self-sufficient and lightweight concept will take hold. Find out more on the Erwin Hymer webpage.
