Colorado County Enacts New Campground Rules

The Logan County Commissioners in Colorado have approved and adopted new regulations for campgrounds and RV parks in Logan County. The new regulations are the result of several months of work with area campground owners to provide adequate space for temporary worker housing.
A crucial part of the new regulations, Section 10, requires campground owners to submit site plans to "the state or local health agency having jurisdiction for review and comment. Prior to consideration for final approval of the permit, written documentation from such agency must demonstrate that the site plan complies in all respects with the requirements of all applicable CDPHE regulations." The issue of the RV parks came up in October of last year when property owners appeared before the county's Planning and Zoning Commission with requests for the permits so they could rent space to oil and pipeline workers who are part of a temporary workforce. County officials rewrote the regulations for RV parks and campgrounds to accommodate housing for temporary workers. From there, the proposed rules pretty much follow those of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, which are modeled after the federal Environmental Protection Agency code.
