JACKSON CENTER, Ohio - Airstream continues to expand its line beyond its iconic “silver bullet” with a new trailer especially adapted for all-terrain use. The Basecamp X-package includes new premium features designed for rugged roads, such as a 3” lift kit for added ground clearance, Goodyear® Wrangler all-terrain tires, a stainless steel front stone guard, and solar front window protection, as well as a convertible rear space designed to easily adapt for eating, sleeping, lounging or storing gear, large rear cargo hatches and flexible storage space with tie downs. Basecamp X, at a base weight of just 2,635 pounds, is towable by a variety of small and mid-sized SUVs and crossovers.
Airstream’s founder Wally Byam established his company with the goal of providing “a more satisfying, meaningful way of travel that offers complete independence” and the new trailer epitomizes this aim, according to company officials. “Our Basecamp X encourages you to go on bigger adventures,” Airstream CEO and President Bob Wheeler said in a press release. “You can tackle rough roads and cold-weather driving with confidence. The higher departure angle along with the aerodynamic design opens up a new world to explore.”
