June will see the opening of two attractions in the Grand Texas Sports and Entertainment District, according to the Houston Business Journal. The Big Rivers Waterpark and Gator Bayou Adventure Park will open their gates June 29, 2018. Grand Texas is an entertainment, dining, and shopping destination under development on 630+ acres about nine miles north of Houston’s Bush Interconti-nental Airport off I-69. When construction is complete, Grand Texas will be the area’s largest entertainment destination with an amusement park, waterpark, outlet mall, shopping and dining promenade, hotels, and more. Elements of the complex already open include the Grand Texas RV Resort, which opened in August 2016, and the SpeedSportz Racing Park, which debuted in December 2016.
The new water park includes a lazy river, interactive play structure, wave pool, waterslides and other activities. The adventure park has zip lines, challenge courses for all age levels, nature trails, a seven-story free-fall tower, petting zoo, maze and more. Both parks include educational aspects on Texas rivers and wildlife. Tickets are on sale now.
