Gear Junkie Reports On Senators Ron Kind And Charles Boustany Who Want To Make Outdoor Gear Tax Deductible
Senator Ron Kind from Wisconsin, along with Senator Charles Boustany from Louisiana, are both trying to eliminate taxes when it comes to outdoor and adventure gear. This bill, called the PHIT Act, is every outdoor enthusiasts dream and aims to lower the obesity levels and medical costs by bringing more Americans outdoors.
As Gear Junkie writer Paddy O'Connell relates in her article: The PHIT Act has hovered in Congress since its introduction last year, but that’s not due to lack of support. “It’s almost there. Both democrats and republicans like this bill,” said Jessica Wahl, the Outdoor Industry Association’s government affairs manager. “If Congress was working the way it is supposed to, the PHIT Act would have already passed.”
